Maths

Good morning year 5.

I hope what you had learnt about angles has come flooding back to you now. Here are some Stem Sentence to help you remember some basic concepts.

A right angle is 90 degrees

A straight line is 180 degrees

An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, it is between 0 and 89 degrees

An obtuse angle is more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees. It is between 90 and 179 degrees.

A reflex angle is more than 180 degrees.

Today's lesson is to learn about how to use a protractor. I know that it can be difficult without an actual protractor to measure, if we were in school we would have had them out for you to use. There is a White Rose video to watch with a matching worksheet. The worksheet to go along with the video requires you to print it off and use a protractor. This is an OPTIONAL task if you are able to do this.

If you are not able to do this, there is a link for an interactive protractor that you can use on the computer to measure angles. Please have a try with this so you can have a go at manipulating a protractor.

I would then like you to try a Kahoot quiz on angles. Lots for you to try! Enjoy.
