Maths

Good morning year 5,

A little starter to get your mind thinking. Have a go at filling in the blanks, answers at the bottom.

A right angle is  ___  degree

A ______ _____ is 180 degrees

An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, it is between _______ degrees

An ______ angle is more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees. It is between 90 and 179 degrees.

A reflex angle is _____   than 180 degrees.

Here are some more stem sentences that may help you with today's lesson:

2 angles on a straight line share a common line and a common vertex.

The angle of a straight line is 180 degree

A straight line is 2 right angles.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today's lesson is looking at angles on a straight line. A straight line is 180 degrees. If the line is not 180 degrees, it IS NOT STRAIGHT.

Watch the White Rose video discussing angles on a straight line. There is a worksheet to accompany the video, you can complete it after the video or during.  Answer the questions straight into your book. There is also a Power Maths challenge question to try too if you have a protractor. Good luck.

Year 5 - Week 10 - Lesson 3 - Calculating angles on a straight line

Try the Power maths challenge if you have a protractor and ruler.
