Miss Mistry

Hey everyone!

It’s Friiiiidaaaay! 😆😊

I hope you’ve had a fab week of home learning! Well done to all of you for motivating yourselves every day to continue to do your home learning. It has felt like ages since I last saw you all and I miss teaching you all! 💛💛💛💛

Yesterday, I only had 2 Socrative messages, so it would be great to hear from more of you today! (MISTRY1629) I may not be there in person, but I’m still around to help you with anything (virtually) or see how you are getting on! 😊

I hope during lock down, you’ve spent quality time with your family and have enjoyed activities with them. Even if it’s appreciating the little things in life, like being able to go for a bike ride or long walks.

As the newsletter mentioned, today would have been our Sponsored walk day! I wonder how you are marking this ‘Hall School event’. I remember last year, Miss Markley and I were in charge of the music. I have attached some walking music below to encourage/motivate you to mark our classic event!

Katrina And The Waves - Walking On Sunshine (Lyrics)

Girls Aloud VS Sugababes - Walk This Way (Live @ Comic Relief 16/03/2007)

Tony Christie - (Is This The Way To) Amarillo [Official Video]

The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) (Official Music Video)

I’m hoping to go for a long run to mark this occasion, either today or over the weekend (weather dependent).

Today, I will be uploading your Topic and Reading home learning tasks for next week. Later on, I will be teaching a Bollywood dance class virtually to my group (youth group). After today, the weather is forecast to be sunnier and warmer, so hopefully you can all get out and enjoy it! On Saturday, I’m hoping to go for a long walk, maybe around a country park nearby or Bradgate park. Sunday, I have no plans as of yet, but I’m sure I’ll do something to keep myself busy! Will let you know on Monday what I got up to!

I hope you have enjoyed this week’s home learning. Remember the ‘Extra activities’ folder has lots of fun topic activities which include:

  • creating a 3D Ancient Greek urn using either papier-mâché or salt dough.
  • a BBC Blue Planet lesson on sea pollution.
  • a lesson which links to a current news topic - Diversity.
  • learning about online safety - Activity 2 from Thinkuknow.
  • Ancient Greeks - learning about the story of ‘The Trojan War’ and the significance of ‘The Trojan Horse’.

All of these activities can be done in your own time and are part of the year 5 curriculum.

Hope you like today’s Just Dance too! I’ve been looking at recent ones to upload for you all from the Just Dance 2020 collection.

Have a great weekend everyone!😆

Best wishes,

Miss Mistry 💛

Abigail - I’m glad you’ve enjoyed this week’s home learning, including the BBC Blue Planet lesson, amongst other activities. The weather is forecast to pick up after today, so hopefully you can get out. I know this week has been unpredictable with the weather but it is expected to get better, so stay optimistic! Your Ancient Greek urn was beautifully decorated. Well done Abigail! 😊

Niva - I look forward to seeing your papier-mâché Ancient Greek urn! It’s a long process, but it’s fun! Do share this with me when you have finished!
