Happy Thursday class 11,
How are you all? I hope you didn't get drenched in the rain like I did today. I was only going from the house to the car! The whole of the bottom of my street was flooded too, I don't think the drains could cope with that much water. Hopefully the wet weather will end soon and the sunshine will come back again.
I have enjoyed my evening today watching the first premier league football match for 100 days, I have missed watching Leicester city and I am looking forward to Saturday for their first match. However the main football story I have been listening to/reading about has focused on what footballers can achieve with their celebrity status off the pitch. Have you heard about Marcus Rashford (Manchester United and England footballer) recently? He wrote an open letter to MPs to ask them to reconsider a decision to stop school meal vouchers for low income families in the UK over the summer holidays. Some families are struggling at the moment, through no fault of their own, to earn enough money to feed themselves and their children . These families are being supported in being able to afford food to eat by the government through school meal vouchers. With stopping them over the school holidays, many children would be at risk of going hungry everyday. Marcus Rashford did not agree with this and wrote to MPs to reconsider and continue to support the children. He managed to get the decision changed and even spoke to Boris Johnson. What an amazing thing to achieve and being able to use his status not just to play for the England football team but to make a difference to so many children's lives. I have included a copy of his letter if you would like to read it.
Hopefully you will get a chance to go onto Socrative today to leave me a message. I am hearing from about 8 people at the moment and it would be nice to hear from some more of you. It would be Funny Register tomorrow so I would like you to leave me a joke to put on the page so everyone can have a little giggle. Looking forward to having my funny bone tickled.
