Year 1's Bookworm

In school Year 1 love taking part in Bookworm, where we share our favourite books from home with each other. We know that you all love reading and we thought this could be a space where we share our favourite books with our classmates!

The teachers will share their favourite children's books too.

All we need you to do is upload a picture of your favourite book on Twitter using #hallathome or email a picture of your book to the school office and we will upload them here for you all to see!

So if you ever want to look for a new book to read, check this page weekly as new books will keep appearing...

Mrs Masters has chosen The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright and illustrated by Jim Field.

Below is the blurb on the back cover. Is this a book that you would like to read? Can you predict what the story might be about?

This is a picture of the last page of the story. I love this story because it shows that we all need to be brave sometimes and let our inner lion come out. It's in there somewhere!

If you do read it sometime, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Amelia has chosen the Rainbow Magic Fairy Stories as her favourite book. Thank you Amelia.

Miss Lowe has chosen Fatastically Great Women Who Worked Wonders written and illustrated by Kate Pankhurst.

This is a non-fiction book with lots of information about amazing and brave women. I like this book because I learnt lots of new things about incredible women who have shaped the world we live in today. I love the pictures in the book too!

Do you know what you would like to be when you grow up? This book has lots of exciting jobs that women have done such as exploring volcanoes, being clever doctors and incredible astronauts. A lot of the women in here had to be resilient but they proved they could do it and have made it possible for women to achieve amazing things today! This book proves that anything is possible when you make the most of your talents!

Lyla in Class 3 has chosen Dirty Bertie: Jackpot! written by Alan Macdonald and illustrated by David Roberts.

Here is the blurb, Lyla has chosen this book because she says that it is very funny! We love books that makes us laugh in Year 1, thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Mrs Allcock has chosen The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr

This book is my favourite because it remind me of lots of happy memories when I was a little girl. This was the only book my Mam and Dad were allowed to read to me for months because I loved it so much. I knew it all off by heart.

It is now a book that I enjoy sharing with my little girl and she loves it just as much as I did.

I enjoy it because it sparks imagination but is also such a familiar tale.

Have you read this book?

What was your favourite part?

Do you think a tiger really came to tea?

Dylan in Class 4 has chosen The Smeds and The Smoos by Julia Donaldson

He enjoys the books because it makes him laugh. If you think you would enjoy a funny book this one might be one for you to try.

Miss Lowe wants to share a new book she has read called My Monster and Me by Nadiya Hussain.

I have enjoyed reading this story because it helps children to understand their anxieties. It has an important message to let children know that everyone has a worry that follows them around, but if we talk about our worries they become smaller. It is written by my favourite Great British Bake Off winner too!

This is one of our favourite parts of the day together and something we miss very much. Each week we will upload a story which you can listen to.

We hope you enjoy it.

For our first story together we are going to listen to a story we explored at the beginning of the year.
