Reading at The Hall

At The Hall, we aim to create a culture of reading and foster a love of books. Please click on the pages below to discover more about reading at The Hall.

Reading is the linchpin of our curriculum. Like anything in life, the more you practise, the better you get. A child who reads regularly and reads widely increases their chances of gaining good comprehension skills, having a well-developed vocabulary, being more articulate and demonstrating a confidence that that can come with being able to understand and express themselves. These skills make children better writers: they can draw upon their understanding of words, tone, style and the structures they have seen in their reading. What a difference that can make!

Our aim is that children leave us as confident readers and – most importantly of all – have a love of books that will last a lifetime.
