Times Tables

When teaching times tables, children are first taught the underlying concept of equal groups and repeated addition. Once the concept is understood, various strategies are used to teach both multiplication and division facts for all times tables up to 12x12. These include using the TT Rockstars website (all children have their own login) for practise and the 'counting stick' to explore the relationships between facts. At the end of Year 4, all children are assessed on their multiplication fact recall. Efficient recall of the facts supports all aspects of mathematics.
