School Comms

Easier, Faster and More Effective Communication

To keep your child(ren) safe and ensure their well-being, we constantly look for ways to improve our links with you and keep you up-to-date and well informed. As sending written information home is sometimes unreliable, we have implemented SchoolComms, an electronic school communication system. This enables you to receive all your information from school quickly and reliably. We send letters to your inbox and short messages directly to your mobile phone as a text message or, if you have an Apple or Android device, by app message.

You will:

  • Receive letters more reliably and promptly
  • See letters in your inbox like any other email
  • Get a short text or app message if we need to contact you urgently
  • Not need to rely on your child for delivery
  • Be able to reply by email, text or app message, and be able to send us any reasons for absence via text, email or app message

We can:

  • Send more letters and information
  • Save money on admin time, printing and paper
  • Contact you urgently when necessary

How it works:

  1. The school will use the email address and mobile number that we hold for Priority One contact(s).
  2. If you do not have an Apple or Android device, please skip to Step 6
  3. Go to your app store and search for “School Gateway” and download the app
  4. Once downloaded, select the “I’m a New User” button; enter your email address and mobile number that we have on record for you. Select Send PIN and a PIN number will be texted to your mobile phone
  5. Log in with your email address and the PIN; your account is now active and you will receive instant notifications of messages in your notifications bar
  6. If you change your contact details, please let the school know as soon as possible

  1. Please program telephone number 0116 326 6343 into your mobile phone as a contact for The Hall School to ensure that you can clearly identify messages sent by us (please note that this number does not accept voice calls)
  2. Please save the email address SC8552345a@schoolcomms.com into your email contacts as a contact for The Hall School to ensure that you can clearly identify messages sent by us.

Online payments to school

The Hall School now uses the SchoolComms School Gateway as the preferred platform to allow parents to make online payments to the School for items such as

School Meals, trips, Pre-School Fees, etc.

We will notify you by text or email when new items are available for payment via the School Gateway. You will also be able to give online consent, where required, for your child to take part in activities.

Aside from saving the school time and money on administration, School Gateway also makes

it easier for parents to pay any time 24-7 and reduce the amount of cash being carried

by children on school premises.

What you need to do:

There are two ways for you to access the School Gateway and make online payments:

  • Via The School Gateway App (easiest option)
    • If you have already downloaded School Gateway app onto your mobile device then you need do nothing more, otherwise please proceed as follows:
    • Go to your app store and search for “School Gateway” and download the app
    • Once downloaded, select the “I’m a New User” button; enter your email address and mobile number that we have on record for you. Select Send PIN and a PIN number will be texted to your mobile phone
    • Log in with your email address and the PIN; your account is now active and you will receive instant notifications of messages in your notifications bar
  • Via the website
    • Go to www.schoolgateway.com
    • Click on “Login”, “Parent Login” and “New User”
    • Enter your email address and mobile phone number
    • You will then receive a text message with a PIN number which you can then use to log into School Gateway

When making payments, the most cost efficient way is by Bank Transfer, although you can also make payments by Debit & Credit Card if you wish (although these latter methods carry a higher handling charge).

If you are having trouble logging in, it may be because the email address or mobile phone number you have used are different to that held by the school, in which case please call the school to clarify. Please bear in mind that you need to have logged as a Priority One contact with the school to access this functionality.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the School Office on 0116 287 3582.
