SEND

Introduction:

The mission statement of our school talks about valuing the individuality of all our children. We are committed to giving all our children every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards. This policy helps to ensure that this happens for all the children in our school – regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment or background.

Our school aims to be an inclusive school. This means that equality of opportunity must be a reality for our children. We make this a reality through the attention we pay to the different groups of children within our school:

  • girls and boys;
  • minority ethnic and faith groups;
  • children who need support to learn English as an Additional Language;
  • children with Special Educational Needs;
  • Able, Gifted and Talented children;
  • any children who are at risk of disaffection or exclusion.

We support all children with Special Educational Needs in our mainstream setting wherever possible.

What is the Local Offer?

The Children and Families Bill was enacted in September 2014. From this date Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about the services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) aged 0 to 25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.

The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.

The School SEN Information Report:

This utilises the Local Authority Offer to meet the needs of SEN pupils as determined by school policy, and the provision that the school is able to meet.

Your child has Special Educational Needs, what can we at The Hall offer you?

At The Hall we embrace the fact that every child is different, and therefore, the educational needs of every child are different; this is certainly the case for children with Special Educational Needs.
